Rev. Michael S. McIntyre, Senior Pastor - mmcintyre@livingwordumc.org Michael was appointed to Living Word in June of 1998. He was born in Chicago, moved to St. Louis as he began junior high school, and graduated from Parkway North High School in 1981. In 1985, Michael graduated from Northeast Missouri State University with a degree in History. He attended Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, IL for two years and graduated from Eden Theological Seminary. Before coming to Ellisville, Michael was a student pastor in Chicago and St. Louis, the Associate Pastor of First United Methodist Church of St. Charles and the pastor of Arch Street United Methodist Church in Hannibal, Missouri. His main interests are his wife Susan, sons Matthew and Sean, baseball (GO CARDINALS!) reading, and travel. back to top
Rev. Laura Taylor, Associate Pastor and Children's Ministries Director - ltaylor@livingwordumc.org Laura Taylor began her appointment at Living Word on August 1, 1999. She is a native of the St. Louis area, graduating from Hazelwood Central High School in 1986 and from Northeast Missouri State University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts in Media Communications. She was a Roman Catholic when she married Marty Taylor, a lifelong United Methodist, in 1990. Laura became fascinated by John Wesley’s story, became a United Methodist herself, and soon felt a calling to serve in ministry. She received her Master’s of Divinity from St. Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, with a specialization in Christian Education. She served from 1993 to 1999 as the Assistant to the Pastor of Broadway UMC in Kansas City with responsibilities for Christian Education, Youth, Witness and Worship Assistance. Laura was ordained a Deacon in Full Connection on June 2, 2002. God has blessed Laura and Marty with three children, Hannah, Sarah and Joshua. Laura recently transitioned to part-time so she can be with her family more while her children are young. back to top
Roy Adams, Building and Grounds - radams@livingwordumc.orgRoy has lived in the St. Louis area in Valley Park for over 50 years. He is retired from General Motors where he was employed as an assembler for 22 years. He has also worked as a custodian for Salem in Ladue UMC. He is married to his wife, Reda and has one adult son. He enjoys spending time with his family (especially his grandchildren), fishing, camping, hunting and woodworking. back to top
Cindy Brown, Administrative Assistant for Age Level Ministries - cbrown@livingwordumc.org Cindy was raised in Kansas City, MO, but moved to the St. Louis area in 1990. She has been working at the church as a temp since December of 2007, and just recently became a full time employee of Ellisville/Living Word UMC. Her primary responsibility is age level ministries. Her previous experience includes a wide variety of administrative assistant positions. Her interests include music, cooking, and spending time with friends. She is a single parent of two teenagers, Katie and Johnny and a married daughter and son-in-law, Kristin and James. back to top
Nancy Classen, Organist Nancy is a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and joined the staff of Living Word in January of 2000. She completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Performance from Carnegie Mellon University and her Master of Music from Webster University. Before her Living Word appointment, Nancy served as organist for the Evangelical Redeemer United Church of Christ in south St. Louis. Aside from her Living Word engagement, Nancy is a freelance oboist and private instructor. In her spare time she enjoys fitness and the arts. back to top
Kim Cox, Administrative Assistant to Business & Communications - kcox@livingwordumc.org Kim was born and raised in St. Louis. Before joining the staff of Living Word, Kim was a stay-at-home mom raising her 3 children, Adam, Emily, and Alison. She worked outside of the home part-time doing various administrative jobs for her father’s company and Chesterfield Hockey Association. Kim and her family have been members of Living Word for 13 years and have been involved in many aspects of the church. Kim enjoys sewing, interior decorating, gardening, and spending time with her kids. Kim is very excited about this new position and being part of the Living Word staff family! back to top
Jenny D'Errico, Administrative Assistant to Pastoral Care - jderrico@livingwordumc.org Jenny joined the staff of Living Word as a part-time assistant in March 2006. Before that, she spent 12 years as a stay-at-home mom (rarely staying-at-home), enjoying her two sons, Nick and Michael, and volunteering at their schools and our church. During her career days, Jenny worked in residential property management in both Tampa and Orlando, Florida. Tony and she were married in Orlando in 1989 and made St. Louis their home in November of 2000. Jenny enjoys singing in the Chancel Choir, playing tennis, gardening, making music with her family, and watching the various sporting and musical events which the boys are involved. She feels very blessed to have a wonderful family, great neighbors and friends, and an awesome church family. back to top
Becky Ernst, Church SextonA native of California, Becky moved to Ellisville in 1993. The Ernst family joined Living Word in the fall of 1993. Better known as the “Donut Lady,” Becky has been our church sexton since December 2000, preparing Coffee Fellowship for the congregation of Living Word. She has been involved in many ministries of the church including Sunday School, Worship Committee, VBS, Turkey Dinner and Youth Retreats. Becky and her husband Fred are the proud parents of Fred Jr. (and daughter in law, Lynne) and Alicia. She is also the proud grandmother of Layla. back to top
Greg Finfrock, Executive Director of Age Level Ministries - gfinfrock@livingwordumc.org Greg was born and raised in Martinsburg, West Virginia, graduating from Martinsburg High School in 1979. He received a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Virginia in 1983, and spent five years as an engineer with Lockheed in Atlanta, Georgia before coming to St. Louis to work for McDonnell Douglas/Boeing in 1988. He joined Living Word in 1991, and became chair of the Education Council in 1999. In 2003, he began responding to God’s call to professional ministry by enrolling at Asbury Theological Seminary, where he continues to pursue a Masters of Divinity degree. He is a certified candidate for ordination in the United Methodist Church, and served as Living Word’s Adult Ministries Director for one year before becoming Director of Age Level Ministries in September of 2007. He and his wife Karen have two daughters, Celia and Hannah. back to top
Judy Groeteke, Evening Welcome Desk Receptionist
Judy was raised in North County, Missouri and graduated from Riverview Gardens and Sanford Brown College. She lives in Ballwin and has been volunteering at the Living Word Welcome Desk. Judy feels very blessed to be a part of the Living Word staff as the Evening Welcome Desk Receptionist on Monday’s, Tuesday’s and Thursday’s. She has two grown sons, Steve and Brian. Brian lives in Arkansas. Steve and his wife Angie are members of Living Word. She enjoys spending time with her grandchildren and nephews. Judy also enjoys volunteering with the Beacon mailing team ministry and is involved with the Bridges (Busy Retirees Involved In Doing God’s Exciting Service) ministry. back to top
Michael Herron, Children & Youth Accompanist Michael Herron is in his second year at Gateway Preparatory Junior High School where he teaches vocal and general music. He taught the previous ten years at Pruitt Military Academy. For the past fourteen years, he has served as rehearsal assistant, music reading instructor and accompanist with the St. Louis Children’s Choirs. Mr. Herron earned a Bachelor of Music Education at Illinois Wesleyan University and a Masters of Music Education at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. He has completed additional study at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He was honored in Who’s Who Among American Teachers in 2005, 2006 and 2007. He also serves as Treasurer and Interim President of the non-profit group Scottish Partnership for Arts and Education. back to top
Kay Kelly, Worship and Celebration Arts Ministries Administrative Assistant - kkelly@livingwordumc.org Kay Kelly is originally from Little Rock, Arkansas but has lived in the St. Louis area most of her life, graduating from Parkway West High School. Living in Mexico City, Mexico for six years was one of her family’s highlights. Her husband, Tim, works for SBC. They have three children: Sean, Brian and Erin. Kay’s main interests are working around the house inside and out, and sewing and crafting, as time allows. She also enjoys singing in the Chancel Choir and the Women’s Ensemble. back to top
Jeannie Kraus, Early Childhood Center Director - jkraus@livingwordumc.org Jeannie graduated from high school in Mathiston, Mississippi. In 1987, she met her husband, Dan, in Beaufort, South Carolina, and six months later were married. Five years later, while living in Albuquerque, God loaned to them a daughter, Torie. Two years later, while living in Kansas City, Missouri, God loaned to them Anna. In 1999, they moved to Chesterfield. Since living here, she has worked part-time and attended college. In May 2004, she graduated from University of Missouri-St. Louis with a Bachelors of Science in Early Childhood Education. In July of 2005, Jeannie was hired to be the Director of Living Word Early Childhood Center. Throughout all locations, she has been blessed with family, friends, and experiences and looks forward to what God has in store for the future. back to top
Vito Lodato, Building and Grounds Supervisor - vlodato@livingwordumc.org Vito was born and raised in St. Louis. He worked in construction for 20 years and as a custodian in the Rockwood School District before joining Living Word in April 2001. His family includes his wife, Trudee, and four children: Jeff, Vito, Kelly and Tony. back to top
Michael Logsdon, Director of Multimedia Ministries - mlogsdon@livingwordumc.org
Michael joined the staff in January of 2008. Michael was born in Litchfield, Illinois and earned a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Mass Communications at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Michael found his way to Living Word after spending some time living in Nashville, Tennessee. Michael enjoys spending his time with his fiancé, Susan, writing music, playing music, listening to music, drinking coffee, and talking about nerdy stuff. back to top
Katie Lorenz, Director of Marketing and Design - klorenz@livingwordumc.org Katie was born and raised in St. Louis. She was raised in the Lutheran church and parochial schools and still attends Concordia Lutheran in Kirkwood. Katie went to high school at Parkway South High School and finished her education at Missouri State University. She has a degree in Entertainment Management, Event Planning. She loves to event plan on the side and has her own wedding planning company called, Your Perfect Wedding Day. Katie’s boyfriend, Mark just graduated from Mizzou's School of Law and they are planning a future together. She also enjoys traveling, scrapbooking and Harry Potter books.
Holly McKee, Accompanist Holly has lived her entire life in the St. Louis area, and is currently living in Fenton with her husband Jeff and daughter, Amanda. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music with an emphasis in Piano in 1989 from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She has accompanied soloists, ensembles, choirs and instrumentalists during her career. Prior to coming to Living Word, she served as a church pianist and accompanist at the First Baptist Church of Fenton. She currently sings with the St. Louis Harmony Chorus, a 75-voice a cappella women’s chorus that rehearses weekly in Bridgeton. Her hobbies include reading (mysteries are her favorite!), walking, and playing video games with her daughter. back to top
Linda McMillen, Director of Finance and Business - lmcmillen@livingwordumc.org Linda and her husband, Danny, are returning to St. Louis after 18 years in Illinois. Linda has been on staff as the Business/Finance Director for 12 years at Northwoods Community Church in Peoria, Illinois. Prior to the church Linda was the office manager for a large restaurant in Chicago, Illiniois and was in public accounting in the St. Louis area for 12 years. Linda and Danny have 3 daughters. (Adrianne - husband Jason and their two children; Gabrielle and Brodie in St Clair, Missouri, Sara - husband Eddie and "Little" Eddie in Wentzville, Missouri and Erica who lives in downtown Chicago.) Linda enjoys cooking, bike riding and being with family. back to top
Adam Mustoe, Director of Youth Ministries - amustoe@livingwordumc.org Adam Mustoe is a Christian, musician, and graduate of Central Methodist University where he studied history and religion. Adam is newly married to Sarah and enjoys music, movies, and any establishment with a value menu. His favorite TV show is Pardon the Interruption and his favorite band is U2. Adam joined the Living Word staff as a Youth Minister in May 2006 after serving as the youth intern since June 2005 and has been a part of United Methodist Church staffs in Jefferson City, Sedalia, and Houston TX. back to top
Mary Reed, Sexton Mary was raised in Florissant, Missouri, graduated from Hazelwood Central and moved to Wildwood in 1989. She’s been working as the Sunday Evening Sexton since 2006. She also works full time for 7up Bottling Group in Hazelwood. She has a daughter, Erin who attends Eureka High School. She enjoys reading, knitting, having coffee at Borders or Bread Company with friends and taking long naps with her four cats. back to top
Michele Rodgers, Celebration Arts Ministries Assistant Director - mrodgers@livingwordumc.org Michele joined the staff of Living Word in August of 2004 as the Associate Director of Celebration Arts Ministry. In that roll, she is the director of two youth choirs: Rock Solid (Grades 3-5) and Faith Beyond Imagination (Grades 6-8). Michele also works with other children and youth choirs and their directors, as well as assisting the Celebrations Arts Ministry Director, when needed with the adult ensembles. Michele is a graduate of Central Methodist College, and is the Choral Director and Music Department Chairperson of Lafayette High School. Michele and her husband, Doug, and two children, Samantha and Brendan, have enjoyed becoming a part of the Living Word family. back to top
Dana Rogers, Financial Administrator - drogers@livingwordumc.org Dana joined the staff of Living Word in August of 2004 as the bookkeeper. Dana graduated with a degree in Accounting from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and worked for several years as a CPA in the St. Louis area before returning to school. In 1992, she earned her Juris Doctorate degree from Washington University School of Law. Dana is also a Stephen Minister and is active in Missions. Her interests include baking, exercise, reading and engaging in retail therapy. She and her husband, Stuart Pim, have twin girls, Reilly and Mackenzie. back to top
Wendy Sain, Pastoral Care Director - wsain@livingwordumc.org Wendy was born in Utica, New York and grew up in Daytona Beach, Florida where she graduated from Mainland Senior High School in 1975. Wendy is a certified candidate for ordination in the United Methodist Church. She has completed over 150 hours of training as a Lay Pastor, Stephen Minister and Stephen Leader. She is a member of the AACC (American Association of Christian Counselors). She will graduate from Maryville University in December of 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She is also attending Asbury Theological Seminary where she is pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Pastoral Counseling. Her interests include her children: Amanda, Michelle, Melissa and Matt; gardening, crafts and reading. Wendy has been part of our staff since 1995. back to top
Chris Shank, Director of Adult Ministries- cshank@livingwordumc.org Chris Shank joined the Living Word staff as the new Director of Adult Ministries in June 2008. Chris is married to Jenny (8 years) and they have a little girl named Cesilia Autumn. Chris was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio. He met and married his wife while at Taylor University in Ft. Wayne, IN and graduated in 2002 with a B.S. in Criminal Justice. Soon after, while in the field of social work and while volunteering at a youth detention center, he and his family felt the call for him to go into ministry. Chris graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary in 2006 with a M.A. in Christian Education, and has lived in St. Louis, home to his wife, for the last two years. Chris’s ministry experience includes working with troubled youth, church youth programs, and small groups for young adults. Chris enjoys reading (philosophy, poetry, classics fiction…George MacDonald!), tennis, volleyball, calligraphy and ‘playing outside’ with his family. back to top
Jessica Smithson, Early Childhood Center Administrative Assistant - jsmithson@livingwordumc.org Jessica grew up in Mississippi and Tennessee and moved to the St. Louis area in 1999. Her family joined Living Word in 2000. Her husband, Jeff, works for Follett Higher Education Group at Webster University. They have three children: Ryan, Reagan and Reid. Jessica joined the staff of Living Word ECC in July 2006. If she had free time she would enjoy reading and scrapbooking!! back to top
Kelly Vincent, Director of Communications - kvincent@livingwordumc.org Kelly grew up in Portage, Indiana and earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Indiana University (Bloomington, Indiana) in 1987. She spent 8 years in pharmaceutical sales (Chicago, Illinois; Indianapolis, Indiana; Huntington, West Virginia) before moving to St. Louis. Kelly and her family have been members of Living Word since 1996. She has served in a variety of ministries, including Vacation Bible School, Sunday School, Children’s Ministries and Communications. She also enjoys Disciple and Beth Moore Bible studies and serving on the Hospitality, New Member and Leadership ministry teams. Her main interests include her husband, Matt, children – Lauren and Brian, volunteering for the Rockwood School District and scrap booking. Kelly served as Living Word’s Volunteer Ministries Director for seven years before becoming Director of Communications in February of 2008. back to top
Nate Voelker, Director of Celebration Arts Ministries - nvoelker@livingwordumc.org
The Midwest runs in his veins, and he is proud to say that he is an Iowa State Cyclone. Growing up he attended many different churches ranging in worship style from high Lutheran services to cutting edge contemporary. He moved away from home the summer after his freshman year of high school and was blessed to receive a scholarship to attend the Interlochen Arts Academy the next three years of his life. During his time at Interlochen he also studied at the University of Michigan, Michigan State and Oberlin Conservatory. The next step in his journey brought him to Rochester, NY to study at Eastman School of Music in both the Bachelor's and Graduate curriculum. He was blessed to serve as Assistant Director of Eastman Opera and conduct orchestras in addition to serving as a church Music Director for five years. He also sang and directed Opera in Italy in the summers and it was during this period that he met my wife Cassie in a coffee shop in Rochester. After Eastman he studied Theology and Liberal Arts while working in the music department at RWC. It was at this juncture that he began asking God what was next and He pointed Cassie, their turtle Michaelangelo and him to Atlanta. In Atlanta he served several churches while taking three semesters to complete a Masters in Choral Conducting at Emory University. During these years, he enjoyed teaching privately as well as developing a new ministry known as International Arts Ministries with the Beech Foundation. This new ministry took them to Kenya in 2006, an experience that changed their lives forever, and led to the birth of their son Randal. back to top
Cheryl Young, Childcare Coordinator Cheryl was born and raised in Marshfield, Missouri. She spent the last 16 years in Wisconsin (near Milwaukee). She and her husband, Jesse, have 3 children (Scott, Ann Marie and Makayla). The Young family moved to the Wildwood, Missouri area 6 months ago and began attending Living Word. Cheryl is actively involved in Multimedia Ministries and Children’s Ministries and she is looking forward to getting involved in more ministry opportunities. Cheryl’s hobbies include sewing, scrapbooking, camping and four wheeling. She is very excited to serve as the Childcare Coordinator for Living Word. back to top
